Delicious, smoked BBQ, sago pupae kebab.
We use the best quality sago worm pupae sourced from our own farm in southern Thailand. The sago pupae are fed a diet of organic non-gmo mashed palm trunks for their entire cycle. We marinate the sago pupae in a slow simmered smoked BBQ sauce for 24 hours. After marinating we roast the sago pupae and turn frequently whilst covering with extra BBQ sauce. When the sago start to brown, crisp and sauce thickens we remove from the oven and place into a dehydrator to dry for several hours. When the sago’s have reached the correct moisture level they are skewered onto bamboo sticks and packed in foil bags with oxygen absorbers to keep them fresh.
Sago taste great on their own as a healthy snack. Sago kebabs are excellent companions to an ice-cold beer. Some people say they taste similar to bacon but with a creamier taste.
