  2. Lugia

I feel so bad for these crabs, its in my heart to save them. They don’t have room to move and are in tight containers until they are eaten. This should be done not with live animals. I will do something about this as soon as I can 🙁 I can never stand being in a tight container and unable to move my body for long periods of time, it’s absolutely horrible!

    1. The Good Sailor

then you should probably not go into tight container where you’re unable to move…
I feel like it is my duty to invest millions in crab dispensers and make this happen everywhere in the world. Really why haven’t we got this stuff here? it would be so awesome to eat fresh crab from the vending machine right now. damn i would take any live animal from a vending machine. but please try vandalizing this piece of awesomeness. either you disturb or hurt many of these crabs pointlessly, cut yourself while breaking the glass or even get caught by the police doing so and i bet you don’t want your ass somewhere in a Chinese prison. and if you would buy them all and release them, the company would just think “hell yeah! this is an awesome piece of hardware we have here! lets fill it up again!”
so you can play Sisyphus once more. aside of that i bet you will never ever go there and do anything, aside of maybe writing some angry e-mail in broken english about how EVIL they are.
PS: and i bet aside of cholesterol and blood there is nothing else in your heart.

  3. Lugia

I have eaten bugs before and will eat them as long as they’re dead =) they’re my number one food if I were to become homeless. I can’t wait to try more new things!

  7. Kees

I wouldn’t eat it, but I guess it’s not worse then boiling a lobster alive (which I wouldn’t eat either for the same reason.)

    2. OaklandEasy

You’re and idiot for saying that.

    3. Roelf Roux

Are the people in the west idiots for eating pigs , sheep and chicken, your comment is idiotic

    4. Guinea pig lover!

I agree that it is sick, why would you even think of doing that to a harmless, vulnerable PET. I have guinea pigs, and I would never let anyone hurt them, I call them my family, I love them, how could they be considered as food?

      1. Rose

Pigs and chickens and cows are innocent too AND plenty of people keep pigs as pets, but I bet you have no problem eating all of that. What exactly makes a guinea pig’s life worth more than a chicken’s?

    5. Senteney

What do you think all your meat looks like when its butchered. City folks are so ignorant!

  9. Forget Me Knot | dakotabee

    […] PS:  soup I’ll never try + the grandma I wish I had! […]

  12. Knowledgable Person

Culture is culture – no one is an idiot because their culture differs from another. They simply live a different lifestyle and eat different foods. There are some cultures that eat dogs and cats – to them it’s no different than eating cows. Contrariwise, there are cultures in which to eat a cow would be considered a horrific sin.

    1. Foodie

      You, my friend, are smart.

    2. Boyet

You are right. No culture has the right to judge another culture based on there own standard.

    3. OaklandEasy

Amazing that this has to explained to people.

    4. Senteney

      Right on the spot!

  13. David

Yummy… Sorry “John”, you sir are the idiot.Live in a world where isn’t a local Walmart to ge your meat… & “Lisa” if the only meat/protein that’s around are cats & dogs… Yup, Fluffy & Fido will be on my dinner table. It’s all about using your resources & growing up/living in a vastly different world then the so called “civilized” world. Don’t look down upon a culture, unless you yourselves have lived it. I have, I’ve lived in MANY parts of the world growing up h I saw/lived/& ATE many things that the Western world you seem disgusting. In fact, they were delicious.

  14. steven gruber

Like Andrew says, “if it looks good eat it”. Idiots need to travel and expand their culinary and intellectual horizons.Bon appetit!!

  15. Luis Terrazas

This is awful… I have two guinea pigs and they are the most cute pets in the world. They are funny, sweet and they run and jump all around. I know it is culture, but I find it repulsive and just thinking about it makes me sick.

  16. Jonas

I am open-minded about food and understand this, but it’s still hard to look at the roasted cute guinea pig.

My culture is not used to seeing heads attached to our food, as most of the time we disassociate animal foods from animals. Even a fish head freaks some people out, or a braised cow’s cheek or smoked cow tongue. A whole raw chicken is in ways vaguely similar to a human baby. We strangely project anthropomorphic traits on our meat animals and that makes us uneasy about any of their biological similarities to humans.

    1. Virgil Ermitano

If your culture is from Europe, most countries in Europe, Prague, Germany, just to name a few, eat roasted pig with their heads attached. We just came from Europe last year (2013) and they roasted the whole pig, with the head attached, on a special kind of oven and they are on full display on the streets in front of the restaurants, and almost all restaurants serve them. Just google “roasted pig Europe” and you’ll see what I mean.

  17. me

  18. Nordia

The fruit is awesome, I eat and drink it. More than ever drink it, as its a filling drink, like a meal. I love it.

    1. jonathan duberry

I live on the island of Montserrat West Indies.. I make jams as a hobby and sell to the local supermarkets..
jams are.. manao, tamarind, soursop, gooseberry, blackberry and of course guava..on my hunt looking for some soursops, I ran into the locust tree , never paid any attention to it, I just remember we ate it when we were small.
.. well I found a few under the tree, so at this moment im trying to make me some jam out of it..
think im gonna call it , stinging joe jam…

  20. Paws

Some people from other countries may think eating a hamburger is super strange.

  21. vin

    That is cruel

    1. OaklandEasy

How is it cruel if it was raised to be eaten? Open your mind to other cultures. People in Peru have been eating that animal for thousands of years.

  22. Goduke Gama

Seriously, though, I watched episode after episode of this guy eating different kinds of testicles and he thinks balut is disgusting. Credentials have been out the window – I know no one who really cares to watch his show anymore.

  26. matthew mitchell

  27. David Rano

Romantic watermelon. 🙂 I think the natural shape better.

  28. Ricky

Peruvian are sick mother fu**ers how could you eat a guinea pig? Hang yourselves..

    1. Rose

If you aren’t a vegetarian you’re a hypocritical idiot. Be against eating all animals if you want but don’t eat a ton of them and then tell other people to hang themselves for eating different ones. tf kinda logic..

  29. Jonavoorht

Fuck off, every culture is different and maybe for other cultures yours eating cow isnt appreciated. So yeah, watch out what you say.

  30. lotta

Wo kann man diese Frucht kaufen???
    Lotta

  31. Lee Lemon

I’ve had these. I expected them to taste okay, considering people eat them regularly. I did not expect them to be one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. They tasted like fried crab.

  32. Alex

How long does it keep for?

  33. dave andrews

Back in my day, we called “Meatwater” “Soup”.

  34. Nadine

I would love to eat some tinking toe right now anybody

  35. rochelle roquim

This balut is inedible. The kind of balut that Filipinos eat are the ones that are not fully developed. Bones should not be distinctively crunchy no feathers and the beak is not fully developed.

  36. Samantha

Why not eat the head? Always wanted to know.

  37. bizarre food's team are assholes

Ooh, it’s tempting. Thanks for sharing. I’m lucky to have the opportunity to try this dish during a trip to Asia, and it’s quite delicious and very beneficial for our health. I also want to experience the harvesting of bird nests to make this dish.

  39. Suzanne Yule
